Privacy policy
Lagta is an app that runs inside Salla stores. It lets a merchant put a product up for a live auction inside their own storefront, then turns the result of the auction into an ordinary Salla order. The app is built on one principle: we store nothing about a shopper that the sale could be completed without. This page explains that in detail.
We comply with the Personal Data Protection Law (PDPL) of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and its implementing regulations, and with the general privacy policy of the Salla App Store. The merchant is the controller of their store's customer data; we process it on their behalf, only for the purpose described here.
1. Who collects the data
The app is operated by Lagta (lagtaauctions.com). For any matter concerning privacy, write to auctions@lagtaauctions.com.
2. What we collect from the merchant
- The store's Salla id and the access tokens Salla grants the app at installation. The tokens are stored encrypted and are used only to do what the app asks of Salla's API (read products, create the winner's order, update its price, send the payment link).
- The app settings the merchant chooses: delivery method, branch, required profit margin, and the like.
- The data of the products put up for auction, taken when the auction is created: name, image, link, price, and the cost price if it is recorded in Salla, because that is what the margin-protecting reserve is computed from. The cost price and the reserve are never shown to shoppers.
3. What we collect from the shopper
When a bid is placed, the app verifies the shopper's identity through Salla itself (we do not accept an identity claimed by the browser), and then stores:
- The customer's Salla id, because the winner's order cannot be created without it.
- A short masked label (such as “S.”), derived from the name at the moment of bidding and kept only in its masked form, so it can appear in the list of bidders without revealing anyone's identity.
- The bids: the amount, the maximum the bidder entered (kept secret and shown to nobody, including the merchant, except in the record of their own auction after it has ended), and the time.
- The settlement record: who won, at what amount, the Salla order number, and whether payment was made or the deadline passed.
What we never store
A shopper's full name, mobile number, email address and shipping address are never written to our database. When the app needs one of them — to send a “you won” email or to add the shipping address to the winner's order — it is read from Salla or entered by the winner, used at that moment, and discarded. Our record keeps only that “an address was added to order number so-and-so in city so-and-so”.
4. Cookies and what is kept in the browser
The app sets no cookies in the merchant's store and runs no trackers, analytics or advertising pixels. The auction interface keeps, in the shopper's own browser (the browser's local storage), the maximum they entered in a given auction, a temporary copy of the auction's state to prevent the price from flickering while the page loads, and which notices were dismissed. This data never leaves the browser and never reaches us. The merchant dashboard inside Salla uses a session token the app issues to the store owner alone.
5. Where the data is kept
The app's service and its database are hosted on Oracle Cloud in the Riyadh region, inside the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Every connection to the app is fully encrypted (HTTPS). The database is backed up daily and backups are kept for 14 days. No data is transferred outside the Kingdom: the email service we send messages through also runs from the Riyadh region.
6. Who we share data with
- Salla: the app works through Salla's official APIs, so creating the order, pricing it and issuing the payment link all happen in Salla. Payment does not pass through us, and we see no card or payment-method details.
- The email provider: the “you won” and “payment reminder” messages are sent through an email delivery service, which receives the recipient's address and the content of the message for delivery only.
We do not sell data and do not share it with anyone for marketing purposes.
7. Retention
A store's data is kept for as long as the app is installed. On uninstallation the access tokens are revoked at once. The record of auctions and settlements (ids, amounts and order numbers) is kept because it is a transaction record that may be needed in a dispute; the merchant can request its complete deletion by writing to us.
8. Your rights
Whether you are a merchant or a shopper, you have the rights the Personal Data Protection Law guarantees: the right to be informed of what we collect and why (which this page explains), the right to access your data and obtain a copy of it, the right to correction, the right to destruction once the purpose of keeping it has lapsed, and the right to withdraw consent. Requests go to auctions@lagtaauctions.com and we answer within 30 days, free of charge. A shopper can also turn to the store they bid in: the merchant is the controller of the data in their store and we process it on their behalf.
9. Security
Access tokens are encrypted in the database with a key that is not stored alongside them. A bidder's identity is verified through Salla on every request. A bidder's maximum and a merchant's reserve are never sent to any browser.
10. Minors
Bidding requires a registered account in the merchant's Salla store, and we do not knowingly collect any data from anyone under eighteen. If we learn that we have, we delete what was collected.
11. Changes
When this policy changes materially we update the date above and notify the merchants who have the app installed.
12. Governing law
This policy is governed by the laws of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, foremost the Personal Data Protection Law and the E-Commerce Law, and its authorities have jurisdiction over any dispute arising from it.
